Taylor Swift Proves She Has No Bad Blood With Katy Perry at the 2024 MTV VMAs

When Taylor Swift goes to a show and decides she's just gonna shake, you can bet all eyes will be on her.
So she was having her usual ball at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, and when it came time to honor Katy Perry with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, of course many cameras zoomed in on the "Bad Blood" singer to see if this would get filed away in the tortured moments department.
But Taylor showed nothing but mad love for Katy, proving that it's all water under the bridge between them by giving the "Firework" artist a standing ovation. (See the full list of winners at the 2024 MTV VMAs.)
Not that we expected anything less, Katy having attended the Eras Tour in Australia back in February. "Got to see an old friend shine tonight," she posted at the time.
Back in 2019, Taylor told Capital Breakfast, "She and I have really been on good terms for a while. We saw each other at a party and walked up to each other and hugged it out and talked about things, and then we saw each other again and hung out at another party and it was just like something felt so much lighter about my life when things became really good between us."
Though that revelation in itself confirmed that there were things to talk about.
Just as she's never confirmed the identities of any of the love interests she's assumed to have sung extensively about, nor has Taylor ever expressly name-checked Katy as someone she was feuding with.
But in 2014, ahead of the release of 1989, she mentioned a fellow female who, "for years, I was never sure if we were friends or not."
And then, Taylor told Rolling Stone, that woman "did something so horrible," she concluded they were "just straight-up enemies."
"It wasn't even about a guy!" Taylor added. "It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour."
Katy infamously tweeted not long after, "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing..."
So when Taylor's "Bad Blood" music video came out—starring seemingly every squad member she'd ever had, plus a few wild cards, but no Katy—their feud was pretty much written as gospel.
(And, incidentally, it won Video of the Year at the 2015 VMAs.)
But that was nine years ago, and they've long since returned to mutual admiration society status.
See all the pics of Taylor living her best life in the audience at the 2024 MTV VMAs:
Taylor Swift leaned in as Post Malone—who took home the prize for Best Collaboration alongside the singer—whispered in her ear.
The Grammy winner posed for a pic with Margaret Qualley. The photog? Margaret's husband and Taylor's longtime producer Jack Antonoff.
At the end of Karol G's epic performance, Taylor gave the "QLONA" singer a giant hug.
The "Fortnight" singer wore a wide grin as she enjoyed the show from her seat.
Taylor and pal Suki Waterhouse danced along to Katy Perry singing a medley of her hits during the awards show.
The "Cruel Summer" singer gave a standing ovation at the end of Katy's performance, a wide smile on her face.
Taylor's signature red lip stayed perfectly in place as she sipped from her ice-cold mixed drink while sitting in the audience.
